Effective August 4, 2026
Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of Etio's U.S.-focused educational practice service. By using Etio, you agree to them.
1. Who we are
Etio provides an online educational practice service for outpatient ICD-10-CM diagnosis coding. In these Terms, “Etio,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the operator of the Etio service. Etio is not currently incorporated. You can contact us at support@getetio.com.
2. Eligibility and U.S. focus
You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to agree to these Terms. Etio is intended primarily for people preparing for or working in U.S. medical coding roles. ICD-10-CM is the United States clinical modification of ICD-10, and coding rules may differ elsewhere.
If you access Etio outside the United States, you are responsible for determining whether the service and its content are appropriate and lawful where you live.
3. Educational service only
Etio offers supplemental practice using synthetic outpatient physician-office encounters. It is not medical advice, clinical decision support, a healthcare service, a claims-submission tool, a production encoder, legal advice, or a substitute for official coding resources, professional judgment, employer training, or certification requirements.
Etio currently focuses on FY 2027 ICD-10-CM diagnosis coding for dates of service from October 1, 2026 through September 30, 2027. It does not provide complete training in CPT, HCPCS Level II, billing, or the full outpatient coding workflow. Always verify coding decisions against current official resources and any applicable employer, payer, and legal requirements.
Use of Etio does not guarantee employment, certification, examination performance, coding accuracy, reimbursement, or any other outcome.
Etio is an open beta. Its synthetic cases, answer keys, explanations, and scores may contain errors or ambiguity. An Etio score reflects Etio's current answer key and is not an official certification or professional determination. You can flag a questionable case for review, and you should verify decisions against the current official ICD-10-CM resources.
4. Accounts and access
Guests may browse the case library and start up to three unique cases. An account is required to save progress across devices and purchase extended access. Account access uses an email magic link. By requesting a sign-in link, you affirmatively accept the current Terms and acknowledge the current Privacy Policy. You must provide an email address you control, keep access to that email secure, and notify us promptly if you believe your account has been used without permission.
Etio offers 12 months of access for one USD payment, at the price shown at checkout, processed by Stripe. The price is currently $29 during the launch sale through Oct 31, 2026. This is not a subscription, does not automatically renew, and does not authorize Etio to charge you again when the access term ends. The exact expiration date appears in your account after verified payment fulfillment. A later purchase is your choice and adds another 12-month term. Beta features, case availability, access limits, and service functionality may change. We may suspend or terminate access when reasonably necessary to protect users, the service, or third parties, or when these Terms are materially violated.
5. Payments and fixed-term access
Payment-card information is entered on Stripe's hosted checkout and is processed under Stripe's terms and privacy practices. Etio does not store your full card number or security code. Access is granted only after Etio receives and verifies Stripe's successful-payment notice. A checkout redirect or receipt by itself does not establish access.
Refunds and payment disputes may revoke the related access term without deleting your learning history. Nothing in these Terms limits refund or cancellation rights that applicable law requires.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- submit real patient information, protected health information, medical records, or other sensitive personal information;
- use Etio for live patient care, production coding, billing, reimbursement, claims, or other high-stakes decisions;
- attempt to obtain unrevealed answer keys, private grading rules, source code, credentials, or data you are not authorized to access;
- interfere with security or service operation, bypass access or rate limits, introduce malicious code, scrape at disruptive volume, or probe for vulnerabilities without written permission;
- copy, resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit Etio content or the service except as applicable law permits; or
- use Etio unlawfully, infringe another person’s rights, or help someone else do any of these things.
7. Content and intellectual property
Etio and its original case text, explanations, visual design, software, and branding are owned by the service operator or its licensors and are protected by applicable law. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use the service for your own education.
Official ICD-10-CM materials remain the property of their respective source or the public, as applicable. References to CDC, CMS, NCHS, or certification organizations do not imply affiliation or endorsement. Etio is not affiliated with or endorsed by those organizations.
If you send feedback, you permit us to use it without restriction or payment to improve Etio, but you retain ownership of any rights you already hold in that feedback. Do not include confidential or patient information.
8. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how Etio collects, uses, discloses, and deletes information. It is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
9. Third-party services and links
Etio relies on service providers such as Cloudflare and Stripe and may link to official government or other third-party resources. We do not control third-party services or their content, availability, security, or privacy practices. Your use of a third-party service is governed by that provider’s terms and policies.
10. Service changes and availability
We may add, change, suspend, or discontinue features or content and may correct errors at any time. We aim to keep Etio useful and available, but we do not promise uninterrupted, secure, or error-free operation. We may update or remove coding content when an official source changes or a quality issue is identified.
11. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Etio and all content are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy, and availability.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions, so some of these exclusions may not apply to you.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Etio and its operator, contributors, and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, goodwill, employment opportunities, reimbursement, or business interruption arising from or related to the service.
Our total liability for all claims arising from or related to the service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid Etio during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim or 100 U.S. dollars. This limitation does not apply where applicable law prohibits it.
13. Your responsibility
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Etio and its operator from third-party claims, losses, and reasonable costs arising from your unlawful use of the service, your material violation of these Terms, or content you submit.
14. California law
California law governs these Terms, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute that is not resolved informally must be brought in a court of competent jurisdiction in California, unless applicable law gives you the right to proceed elsewhere. Before filing a claim, please contact us at support@getetio.com so we can try to resolve it.
15. General terms
If a provision of these Terms is unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not transfer these Terms without our permission. We may transfer them as part of a reorganization, financing, sale, or transfer of the service. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and Etio concerning the service.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as Etio changes. We will post the revised version and change the effective date. If a change materially affects your rights, we will provide additional notice when reasonably practical. Continued use after the updated Terms take effect means you accept them.
